Top Baseball Fields I’ve Visited
By: L.R.
Since I am currently ridding the excitement of our new Miami Marlins Stadium, I thought I would post some pictures of other ballparks I have had the pleasure of visiting. Did you know a woman by the name of Lori Martini set the record for first female to visit all 30 major-league baseball parks! I wish I could do this, maybe someday =).
Above you will see pictures of me at Citi Field, Yankee Stadium, and of course our former ballpark Sun Life Stadium, newly renamed Dolphin Stadium.
Citi Field is the current home of the NY Mets baseball team. The field is located in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in New York City borough of Queens. Completed in 2009 Citi field is one of the more newer ballparks. Citi Field was built as a replacement for the adjacent Shea Stadium which opened in 1964 next to the site of the 1964-1965 World’s Fair. I also had the pleasure of visiting the Fair site, I can only imagine what it must have looked like it its former glory days, very beautiful.
Yankee Stadium is the appropriately named home of the NY Yankees. The Stadium is located in New York City borough of the Bronx. This Stadium replaced the former Yankee stadium built in 1923. The new ballpark was constructed across the street literally, north-northeast of the 1923 Yankee Stadium, on the former site of Macombs Dam Park. The new ballpark opened April 2, 2009, when the Yankees hosted a workout day in front of fans from the Bronx community.
Sun Life Stadium, former home of the Florida Marlins is an American Football stadium located in Miami Garden, FL. For those of your curious I live 10min away from the site ;). I wish my list was bigger but for now this is pretty much it. Oh I have also of course visited Candle Stick Park in San Francisco which was home to the Giants until 2000 when AT&T park was built and opened as the new major-league baseball team home. I have not seen AT&T park.
